It’s official. Jack Bauer will return from his extended stay in China to save the world again on Sunday, January 14, 2007 at 8PM with a two hour premiere. As FOX has done with the past two seasons of 24, hours three and four of season six will air the very next night (Monday Jan. 15) at 8PM as well.

To give fans something to chew on in the meantime, on October 24 FOX will be releasing an extended “Day Six” trailer here. Click on it, there’s a countdown and everything! There’s a lot of buzz around this new season though, 24 will also be welcoming a boat-load (no pun intended) of new stars including Regina King, James Cromwell, and Peter MacNicol. Plus, Eric Balfour is back to reprise his season one role as Milo.

In conclusion? Tick tock… tick tock… tick tock.

Deja Vu Trailer

Posted by Adam | Posted in Movie Trailers | 1 Comment » | Posted on October 4th, 2006

Synopsis: Everyone has experienced the unsettling mystery of déjà vu – that flash of memory when you meet someone new you feel you’ve known all your life or recognize a place even though you’ve never been there before. But what if the feelings were actually warnings sent from the past or clues to the future? It is that very sensation that guides ATF agent Doug Carlin (Denzel Washington) through his latest investigation.

Cast: Denzel Washington, Val Kilmer, Jim Caviezel, Paula Patton, Bruce Greenwood, Adam Goldberg, Erika Alexander, Matt Craven

Elevator With No Floor? Go Ahead, Step Inside

Sometimes things aren’t what they appear to be, and here’s a case in point: the floor of his elevator car is painted to give the illusion that there’s no floor at all. It’s a trompe d’oeil that’s realistic enough to convince the roadrunner that there is indeed a tunnel on the side of the mountain, not just a painting by Wile E. Coyote.

The artists sell the illusion really well, too, where there’s even a sign warning you there’s “work in progress.” After a few people walk in, though, you’ll be able to see the footprints, and the illusion might not be so convincing. But I’d still like to be the first one to step inside. Full-sized pics after the jump.

The Ultimate Lego RubberBand Gun

This may be a bit much….but it’s pretty damn cool. Fires 11 rubber bands per second. If you ask me, I think Craig could build one that does 15 rubber bands per second.

Chara named Bruins’ Captain

Boston Bruins defenceman Zdeno Chara has been named as the club’s captain. Chara becomes the 18th captain in the 82-year history of the team and joins such great Bruins as John Bucyk, Dit Clapper, Milt Schmidt, Cooney Weiland, Terry O’Reilly and Ray Bourque on the club’s all-time captain’s roster.

The Bruins also announced that Patrice Bergeron and Glen Murray have been named as assistant captains of the team.

”Zdeno’s leadership qualities have been apparent from the time he joined players for their informal skates prior to training camp,” said Chiarelli. ”He leads by example, both on and off of the ice, and he has earned the respect of everyone in our dressing room. He recognizes the leadership abilities of his two assistant captains as well as other players, and he also realizes that every player has strengths that they bring to our team and that bringing those strengths together is crucial to our success.”

Chara becomes just the third Slovakian-born player to wear a captain’s ‘C’ for a National Hockey League team. Peter Stastny of Bratislava, Slovakia served as the Quebec Nordiques’ captain from 1975-1980 and Stan Mikita, born in Sokolce, Slovakia, but raised in Canada, was a co-captain of the Chicago Blackhawks with Pit Martin from 1975-1977.

Chara, 29, enters his ninth NHL season, his first with the Bruins since signing with the team as a free agent on July 1, 2006. He was drafted by the NY Islanders as their third pick, 56th overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft out of his native Slovakia. He turned professional in 1997 following one season of junior hockey with Prince George of the Western Hockey League. He split his first two pro seasons between the NY Islanders and their AHL affiliates in Kentucky and Lowell, earning AHL All-Rookie Team honors with Kentucky in 1997-98, despite playing just 48 AHL games that season.

Chara is the NHL’s tallest player at 6’9”, and the 260 lb. native of Trencin, Slovakia played four seasons with the Islanders organization before he was traded to Ottawa with Bill Muckalt and New York’s 2001 first round draft pick (Jason Spezza, second overall) for Alexei Yashin on June 23, 2001. He has played the last four NHL seasons with the Senators and has scored ten-or-more goals in three of those seasons, recording career season-highs in goals and points last season with 16 goals and 43 points.

Chara was named a First Team NHL All-Star and a Norris Trophy finalist in 2003-04 and was named a Second Team All-Star and finished fourth in the Norris Trophy balloting in 2005-06. His career NHL totals are 57 goals and 118 assists for 175 points and 901 penalty minutes in 530 career games.
