Gilbert Arenas disses Jose Calderon

Jose Calderon’s stellar play for the Toronto Raptors has generated many calls for him to be appointed to the upcoming NBA All-Star game, particularly amongst writers south of the border. But there is at least one NBA player that disagrees.
On his blog for NBA.com, Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas think calls for Calderon to be named to the All-Star game are “killing [him].”
“Some people wanted Jose Calderon. Jose Calderon? Who? Come on man, this is All-Star, people,” Arenas wrote on his blog.
“I understand Calderon has the best assist-turnover ratio in the league, but you know what’s funny? All back-up point guards have the best assist-turnover ratios. Screw it, Kevin Ollie should be an All-Star then!”
“I’ve been loving the way he’s been playing for the last two years. When he first came into the league he was a little timid and scared to shoot the ball, but he’s taking over that team. But All-Star? He’s about 20 years away from being an All-Star.”
“Calderon is managing a team. If he was up for Rookie All-Star, Sophomore All-Star . BOOM . he’d get in. He might even be MVP! But for the big show? The big game? No.”
Arenas has missed all but eight games this year with a knee injury and is averaging 22.4 points-per-game and 5.9 assists-per-game.

Reality check for Gilby:
Your team has played much better without you. Without Jose, the Raptors do not player better.
I guess Arensa hasnt watched much of the Raptors. Calderone has some ot the best persentages in the leauge. Yes better than Nash even. No hes not a big name but definatly deserves to be substituting Butler instead of Allen. I guess the All Star game was about talent not names.
I think Gilbert Arenas is being stupid. He doesn’t have the right to say these things against Calderon. Are you just trying to get attention Gilbert??? Are you scared that fans might actually forget you even existed??!! Your blogs are not well thought of and you are not all that buddy! In fairness to Jose, he is damn good baby!

Ohh man you should check your team out Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison are way better then you man. Jose has been starting most the for the raptors for your information and how long did it take for you to actualy make the all-star team, Jose only been in the league 2 years and he’s better then you

I couldn`t have put it any better. I live in T.O. and let me tell you, Jose is the most overrated (not to mention most feminine) PG in the league. He has the best assist-to-turnover ratio in the league, but so did Mugsy Bogues! Mr. Arenas is as smart a person as he is a playa. Get well soon, bro!

JDUb, you’re obviously not watching the games that close. Every time Jose is in the Raps have great ball movement and everyone seems to be cutting. As soon as TJ comes in, its like another team out there. I know part of it is that he’s playing with the backups, but he doesn’t trust anyone on that team. I don’t know how many possessions end up with him taking an ill-advised shot. I’ll be much happier to see TJ go than i would Jose. That being said, i hope we can keep them both, but TJ does need to learn his role.
gilbert, you are so dumb. have you even been watching. Calderon is a gem in basketball, and there no doubt he is an all star, and he has bene starting for two months you moron, hes not backing up anyone, i think the whole double double a game is pretty impressive considering the raps have a great shooting team itself.
Calderon is overrated. I live in Toronto and everytime i watch the raps, i get frustrated with all the hype the broadcasters are given him. Caley, he’s not averaging a double double by the way. he’s barely there with 8.5assists a game. ADVERSAREE, now you guys a chassin the wizs and not to mention the the 76ers?? hope you get torch by the pistons
