He won’t be blue. He won’t even be CG’d. But Neil Patrick Harris will star in Sony Pictures’ Smurfs movie. The studio confirmed online reports that the How I Met Your Mother star will live among the blue people. Harris will play an expectant father who has his life turned upside down upon meeting these creatures. The film, set to begin shooting in April, will be directed by Raja Gosnell, the man behind Beverly Hills Chihuahua. It will take place in New York City’s Central Park.

The 40-year-old entertainer will be guest starring in an upcoming episode, and it sounds like the cast had a great time shooting with her! “Jennifer Lopez was really great – hot, cool and funny,” Neil tweeted. “And well prepared!”
Fellow HIMYM star Alyson Hannigan echoed Neil’s sentiments, tweeting “Jennifer Lopez is SO pretty! And funny!! And nice!!! It’s not fair.”

Neil Patrick Harris is nearing a deal to appear in the May sweeps Glee episode that’s being helmed by his Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog director, Joss Whedon.
Harris wants to do it, and Glee creator Ryan Murphy sure as hell wants him to — he’s creating a role especially for the How I Met Your Mother scene-stealer. And yes, the part includes a little song-’n’-dance. In fact, the gig not only would reunite Harris with Whedon, it’d also reteam him with Zachary Woodlee, who choreographed the musical number in HIMYM’s recent 100th episode.
The one possible snag — and there’s always one, isn’t there? CBS has to OK its MVP’s appearance on Fox’s breakout hit. But at least since HIMYM and Glee are both produced by 20th Century Fox, there’s no conflict on their end.

SPOILER ALERT.
How I Met Your Mother’s decision to bring the Barney-Robin love story to a premature climax has left fans feeling decidedly unsatisfied. But executive producer Carter Bays insists the romance was sacrificed for a greater good: the preservation of Neil Patrick Harris’ legendary ladies’ man.
“None of us wanted to see Barney wearing a sweater-vest and going to bed-and-breakfasts,” says Bays, adding that it makes sense the relationship would “flame out fast” given that “neither of them, at their core, really wanted to be tied down.” Bays also believes that, deep down, viewers prefer single Barney to attached Barney. “It’s one of those things where you can give people what they think they want, or what they really want.”
And should some of them feel that they really want him to settle down with Robin, Bays offers this bit of hope. “[They] could get relationship amnesia and decide, ‘Hey, this is a good idea!’” he proposes. “This could be the first of many flameouts for them.”
Bays, however, stops short of saying a full-fledged reconciliation could be in their future. “I don’t want to say reconciliation,” he says. “But the story is not over, for sure.”
