SPOILER ALERT:

Rachel Bilson will reprise her role as the titular mama’s roommate, Cindy, on CBS’ How I Met Your Mother, series creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas confirm.

Bilson will appear in the show’s sixth season premiere this fall when Cindy shows up at MacLaren’s bar, the favored hangout of Mother‘s central quartet. “The season premiere is going to be very much informed by her presence,” says Bays.

Executive producer Mark Wahlberg revealed in an interview at the MTV Movie Awards that the series will end in 2011 with six episodes, although it’s still not known if those six are part of the upcoming season or a shortened eighth and final season.

Wahlberg promised that the series would end with “a bang,” although if you’re afraid (or hopeful) that he means an explosion that kills everyone from Vince to Ari, no such luck: Wahlberg is also planning to continue the series with a movie, ala Sex and the City.

Eminem and Christina Aguilera are among the guest stars appearing in the HBO comedy’s season 7 finale, EW.com has learned. The rapper, who released Recovery last week, shot a scene that takes place “at a platinum record party for his album, which by the time this airs will be platinum, I’m sure,” says Entourage creator Doug Ellin, adding: “He has a little conflict—a little beef—with Vince [Adrian Grenier].” While Eminem won’t be performing in the episode, Aguilera will. Like Eminem, the singer plays herself—but she’s also a client of Ari. “She’s doing Ari a favor and performing at a party for him,” Ellin tells EW.com. The Sept. 12 episode, which Ellin hints is a “pretty dramatic season finale,” also features Minka Kelly (whom Vince has his eye on) and John Cleese, as well as pro athletes such as Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees, Phillies All-Star first baseman Ryan Howard, and NBA players Jordan Farmar and Kevin Love.

Actor Steve Carell is tendering his resignation as the egotistical boss Michael Scott of “The Office”, and leaving the hit TV comedy show next year.

Carell told Us Magazine that he would be leaving paper company Dunder Mifflin at the end of the upcoming TV season, in May 2011.

“Yes, it will be my last,” Carell, 47, told UsMagazine.com while promoting his movie “Despicable Me”. “It’s the last (season) on my contract, and I want to honor my contract.”

Carell, who won a Golden Globe award for his role, said he wanted to spend more time with his wife and two young children.

Carell began playing Michael Scott in 2005 when the U.S. version of the hit British mockumentary created by Ricky Gervais was launched on NBC.

NBC had no comment on Carell’s remarks.

Carell’s departure may not mean the end of “The Office” however. NBC executives told reporters in May that the network regarded the show as an ensemble piece and that producers were prepared for a possible departure by Carell.

The actor told Us Magazine he would be sad to leave the comedy series. “These are some of my best friends in the world! But it will be good — it will be good for everybody,” he said.

“The Office” has been one of NBC’s biggest critical hits, winning an Emmy for best comedy series, and a Screen Actors Guild Award for its ensemble cast. The series has also been sold widely overseas.
